The Austrian Federal Computing Center (BRZ) develops and operates applications for federal authorities, especially for the Federal Ministry of Finance and the Federal Ministry of Justice.

The Bundesrechenzentrum GmbH wants to place a further focal point on eGovernment and portal technology. Important eGovernment projects are "Elektronische Akt im Bund" (ELAK), the portal techology "Portal Austria Services" as well as the operation of "Help.gv.at" in cooperation with the Federal Chancellery and the person responsible of the Chief Information Office (CIO).

Another innovation represents E-Democracy, especially at complex applications with high security requirements; for example E-Voting during elections as well as multi-staging citizen participation (projects: seidabei, E-Generation, AuslandsösterreicherInnen-Umfrage, mitmachen.at, BRZ E-Contest and jugend2help.gv.at).

Since 2002, the BRZ relies on Gentics products. As a result of this cooperation, outstanding portal projects have been realized, which have satisfied all requirements in the range of eGovernment (accessibility, support of the "Portal-Verbund-Protokoll (SAML), etc.). Based on Portal AusTria Services in which Gentics products have been integrated, personalized and dynamically generated portals for intranet and internet are possible.

Currently more than 20 projects are running on portal and CMS platform, based on Gentics Content.Node and Gentics Portal.Node.
