Aloha Editor Developer Conference in San Francisco 2011

Comment

For the second time this year open source developers from all over the world met each other at the Aloha Editor Developer Conference in San Francisco from June 6th to June 8th, 2011.

Vienna/San Francisco, 9.6.2011: The Aloha Editor is an online HTML5 WYSIWYG editor, that allows faster and more comfortable editing of websites in Content Management Systems. The editor is based on Javascript (jQuery) and HTML5. Gentics – the Austrian vendor of Content Management and Portal Solutions - has developed the editor and then given it to an open source community. The aim of the community is to exchange new solutions and know how.
The international development team meets each other regularly to discuss and create new ideas. Haymo Meran, CTO at Gentics Software GmbH set up the project. At the beginning of the conference in San Francisco he explained the next goals: “I am very happy about the progress of the project. By 2012 55% of the CMS market shall profit from our results.” He responded to other CMS-vendors that have already implemented the Aloha Editor, like Typo3, Drupal, Wordpress, Gentics, Plone or Midgard.
The participants presented plugins, adaptations and possible fields of application for Aloha Editor. Inline comment features for editors, semantic annotations or the use of the editor in other CMS systems were some of the main topics. Among the attendants were also prominent guests like Doug Chang from Google or Kirk Austin, programmer of the music program of Amazon.
