Performance and reliability
Gentics Content.Node 4 is a backend-system for creating and managing contents of all kinds. The backend-system runs separated from all different delivery services (frontend), i.e. webservers (Microsoft IIS, Apache, etc), portal servers (IBM Websphere, BEA Weblogic, JBOSS, Liferay or Gentics Portal.Node) or other content consumers (applications, Flash-objects).

All contents are pre-rendered by Gentics Content.Node in the format needed by the particular targetsystem. Through this separation maximum availability, performance and data integrity can be reached.

The following mechanisms are supported by the system:
  • Loadbalancing
  • Multilevel-Caching reduces request-times
  • Failover mechanisms assure data availability
  • Support of highperformance and failover database systems
  • Indexing

Powerful interfaces
Gentics Content.Node 4 gives you powerful import-, export- and application-interfaces. With XNL-Objects it offers you a webservice-based application-interface for enhancement of the system functionality.

You can enhance the system with functionality for your editors. Contents from external datasources (SQL, LDAP, Webservices, ...) can be inserted in webpages. Using this feature you can add customer- or productdata from your ERP-system (like SAP™, Cognos™, Microsoft™ CRM, etc) to your website or intranet.

By using the available Gentics Portal Connector you can connect Gentics Content.Node to different applications (Java, etc), portal servers like IBM™ Websphere™, Microsoft™ Sharepoint™ or SAP™ Netweaver Portal™, online shopping systems (like Intershop) or Print Publishing Systems (like Adobe™ InDesign™).

Complete separation of content and layout
Gentics Content.Node 4 is an object oriented system. Contents will be saved separated from structure and layout. The multilevel template system works with current markup- and script languages. The system distinguishes between layout templates (responsible for structure and appearance fo the page) and object templates (responsible for functionalities and appearance of individual objects like images, links, tables, database queries).

Layout templates can be created in current editors based on screen designs and afterwards integrated in the CMS by using the unique import mechanism. Additionally to the "Extended Node Language" (XNL) - a native applicationlanguage - the CMS supports Velocity Template Language (Apache Project).

Object-Templates ("Tags") can be freely configured in the webbased user interface. All available elements can be adapted. Beside the appearance of the objects you can define all functions of these objects (input fields, mandatory fields, etc), the editor can use for managing the content.

Fits your IT infrastructure
Gentics Content.Node is designed to be used in different IT infrastructures. You can maintain your system in your computer centre or on dedicated hosted root servers. Beside "stand-alone-installations" the usage in distributed system architectures or as a cluster architecture is possible.

The CMS supports company-wide Access Management Systems like CA eTrust Siteminder, Comtarsia SignOn Solutions, CAS, JOSSO or similar systems and strong encryption mechanisms like SSL, TLS or SSH. Get higher reliability by using current monitoring- or backup solutions.
